Managing the SPR KnowledgePLAN™ Estimating Infrastructure

The SPR KnowledgePLAN™ tool's project templates provide the customised infra-structure that is necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the tool's estimates. Individual estimators are able to further customise project template components to address an individual project's particular requirements. The use of predefined project templates, however, helps ensure the consistency of estimates and substantially reduces the time and effort required by project team leaders for estimating each new project.

At the completion of the course participants will be able to:

• construct new work breakdown structures that include all the tasks that comprise a defined software process within an organisation along with the task orderings, and also customise existing predefined KnowledgePLAN™ work breakdown structures

• specify default values for project attributes that are used to classify a project and affect KnowledgePLAN™ 's task estimates

• specify the resources required to typically complete a task within a work breakdown structure and state their default availability and cost

• construct calibrated KnowledgePLAN™ knowledge bases based upon an organisation's historical project data

• define new task categories for tasks not addressed by KnowledgePLAN™ and provide data to enable KnowledgePLAN™ to generate estimates for the new task categories

• interface KnowledgePLAN™ to Microsoft Project for importing and exporting of work breakdown structuresand for detailed resource allocation.
